Operating methods for welding flanges
Release time:2025-05-12
Butt-weld flanges are resistant to deformation, provide a good seal, and have wide applications. They meet specific rigidity and elasticity requirements, feature a reasonable butt-weld thinning transition, and maintain a large distance between the weld and the mating surface, protecting the mating surface from welding temperature deformation. Their relatively complex trumpet-shaped structure makes them suitable for pipelines with significant pressure or temperature fluctuations, as well as high-temperature, high-pressure, and low-temperature pipelines. They are generally used for connecting pipes and valves with PN greater than 2.5 MPa and are also used in pipelines transporting expensive, flammable, and explosive media.
First, before connecting the butt-weld flanges, the inner and outer sides of the stainless steel pipe fittings to be connected must be prepared.
Install the flanged rings on the pipes to be connected.
The pipe ends require 90-degree flanging. After processing, the pipe end surfaces must be polished to be vertical, flat, free of burrs, unevenness, or deformation, and the pipe ends must be rounded using a specialized tool.
Alternatively, a simpler method is to use pre-made flanged short pipes that are welded onto the pipe.
Embed O-ring rubber seals and stainless steel sealing rings on both sides within the flanged rings. The inner diameter of the sealing rings should match the inner diameter of the pipe.
Connect the flange holes with bolts, tightening the bolt assembly symmetrically.
When tightening the butt-weld flanges, ensure that all joints are properly sealed and meet the required standards.
