- Product Description
-
Wheel forgings are made through a forging process, shaping and strengthening metal blanks through multiple procedures. They feature high strength, high wear resistance, fatigue resistance, and high dimensional accuracy, and are widely used in automobiles, trains, construction machinery, and other fields, providing solid assurance for equipment operation.
Manufacturing Process
Material Selection: Materials are diverse and rich, selected based on the different usage scenarios and performance requirements of wheel forgings. Commonly used materials include carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel. For example, in general industrial vehicles and light transport equipment, carbon steel, which has relatively low cost, good comprehensive mechanical properties, and workability, is a common choice; while in the manufacture of wheels for heavy-duty and high-speed engineering vehicles, mining machinery, etc., alloy steel with high strength, high toughness, and good wear resistance is preferred; for wheels working in harsh environments such as chemical and food industries that require extremely high corrosion resistance, stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance is often chosen.
Heating Process: The carefully selected metal blank is heated to a specific forging temperature range, generally between 1100°C - 1200°C. An appropriate heating temperature ensures that the metal blank has good plasticity, creating conditions for smooth plastic deformation during subsequent forging processes.
Forging and Shaping: Using specialized equipment such as forging presses or hammer forging machines, strong pressure is applied to the heated blank to cause plastic deformation as per predetermined requirements, gradually forming the rough shape of the wheel. This process not only gives the wheel a specific shape but also improves the internal structure of the metal. For example, during forging, metal grains are refined, significantly enhancing the overall performance of the wheel.
Heat Treatment and Strengthening: Completed forged wheel blanks undergo a heat treatment process, commonly quenching and tempering. Quenching can significantly increase the hardness of the wheel, while tempering can, to some extent, adjust the balance between hardness and toughness, giving the wheel both good strength and impact resistance.
Precision Machining: Through a series of machining methods such as turning, drilling, and grinding, the forgings are finely processed to strictly ensure the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the wheel, meeting the high-precision assembly and usage requirements of various equipment.
Surface Treatment and Protection: To enhance the anti-corrosion performance and aesthetics of wheel forgings, surface treatments such as painting and galvanizing are usually applied. These treatments form a protective film on the wheel surface, effectively isolating external corrosive media and extending the wheel's service life.
Product Features
High Strength: The forging process refines the internal grains of the metal and makes the structure denser, greatly improving the mechanical properties of the wheel forgings, giving them high strength and enabling them to easily withstand huge loads under various complex working conditions.
Excellent Wear Resistance: After special forging and subsequent treatment processes, the surface hardness of wheel forgings is significantly increased, demonstrating excellent wear resistance under harsh conditions such as high loads and high-speed operation, extending the wheel replacement cycle.
Strong Fatigue Resistance: Wheels are subjected to repeated stress during actual use. The forging process optimizes the internal structure of the metal material, giving wheel forgings excellent fatigue resistance, effectively avoiding early failure due to fatigue and significantly extending their service life.
High Dimensional Accuracy: Advanced machining equipment and a strict quality control system ensure extremely high dimensional accuracy of wheel forgings, enabling precise cooperation with other components and ensuring the stability and reliability of equipment operation.
