Structural Features
Neck Design: It has a relatively long neck, and the neck is butt-welded to the pipe. This effectively disperses stress, enhances the reliability of the flange-pipe connection, improves overall strength, and can withstand high temperatures, high pressures, repeated bending, and temperature fluctuations.
Seal Face Type: The seal face can be made in three types: smooth, raised face, and tongue and groove. Smooth faces are the most commonly used. Butt-weld flanges with a nominal pressure of 0.25-2.5 MPa often use raised face seal faces, which have better sealing performance.
Manufacturing Materials
Carbon Steel: Common materials include cast carbon steel grade WCB, forging A105, or Q235B, A3, 10#, 20 steel, etc. These are relatively inexpensive, have high strength, and can meet the requirements of general industrial pipelines. They are suitable for carbon steel pipeline connections with a nominal pressure not exceeding 2.5 MPa.
Stainless Steel: Such as 304, 316 stainless steel materials, which have excellent corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance, suitable for industries with high corrosion resistance requirements, such as chemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries.
Alloy Steel: Alloying elements are added according to specific needs to improve the strength, toughness, and wear resistance of the flange, allowing it to withstand greater pressure and impact. It is often used in pipeline connections under special conditions such as high pressure, high temperature, and high corrosion.
